Comments on the transatlantic-transpacific DoA proposal

mercredi 3 décembre 2014

After the quite sucessfull European decentralised multi-sectoral action day on Oct 11th against TTIP, CETA and TiSA with actions in 22 European countries and thousands of activists in the streets (www.stop-ttip-ceta-tisa.eu), some European groups are discussing going a step forward.

European Attac Network and others have proposed a transatlantic/transpacific action day in spring 2015 against TTIP, TPP, CETA, TiSA, other free trade agreements and trade-related issues like « Fast Track » in the United States, as well as connections to other struggles. We are interested in your views on this suggestion.

Please fill in the form bellow to submit your comments

Spring 2015 seems to be a the right point in time for European campaigners : After the new EU Commission has started its term, TTIP negotiations will gather momentum and the preparations for the ratification process of CETA will be in full swing. In the transpacific context, the TPP negotiations may be approaching conclusion this spring. And US campaigners may also have new Fast Track trade authority legislation they are working to defeat.

A possible date to consider is April 18th (Sat.), linked to April 17th (Fri.) annual global « Day of peasants’ struggles » of La Via Campesina.

For such an action day we may want various forms of coordination : e.g. website, action online map, media work, twitter storm, etc. We should think also about web tools that can facilitate intercontinental exchange between the grassroots.

Your comments and suggestions are most welcome.

Does April 18th (Sat.), linked to April 17th (Fri.) annual global "Day of peasants' struggles" of La Via Campesina work for your organisation / national platform?

If April 18th doesn't work for you, when would you like to see the day of action?

How much ressources can your organisation commit to the coordination of the day?
